We also need to surround ourselves with positive people who are constructive.When you're stuck in a negative spiral,talk to someone who can put things into perspective and won't feed your negative thinking.
Helping someone is also another way of let go of our negativity .Take the focus away from you and do something nice to another person . ie buying something food stuffs for those who don't have anything to eat ,clothes for kids and elders,this will take our minds off the things and feel better for helping someone else.
We can overcome our negativity different ways and it will always let us be at Peace with ourselves and to others too.. Because Peace starts from you and then it goes beyond.
