Dear Friends,

I have started the Self Development Online Program sessions and I am practices the meditation on daily bases. First I practice with the help of online video session and then again repeat/practice it myself.

Can someone help me, Can I listen music during self practice session? 


If, yes then help me which type of music is advisable during self meditation practice session?

Hello dear Rashid,

I think it's a normal practice to use music for meditations. At first I watch video and then I do it with music. I chose different collections of meditation music, it might even be some folk music which won't disturb you, something pleasant or even 'sounds of nature'. For example, I listen to these performers I found in the internet: Lex van Someren, Chinmaya Dunster, Perry Wood, Rainer Tillmann, Michael Stearns, In-Di-Go, Rhythm of Mankind & Nature, Robert Rich, Trancesib, Craig Pruess and Ananda and so on =)

Music makes you feel relaxed and that is a good point of having music for meditation. However, it will never allow the mind to be standstill since the mind cannot be totally disconnected from the physical five senses. Thus, your meditation will not go deeper. If you prefer using the music to calm the mind down, you may also use some soft or light music or natural sound. However, when you begin your meditation, it is suggested to follow the meditation guide so you know where to focus the mind, how to deal with the wondering thoughts and how to make the mind completely still.
