Hi Anca, Good question to ask, it made me think about how I use the word. For me peace is about harmony, within myself and with others around me. It does not necessarily mean 'having it my way' but all the more about acceptance and being okay with how things are. I guess that's kind of similar to your definition of not depending on "you"s and "they"s...

There are a lot of attempts in order to define the definition of peace. This really depends on different level weather you talk about personal peace, peace in the society or world peace. Each level has its own different characteristics.

But peace in society will never happen unless everyone in the society has personal peace. Peace in the world will never happen unless every society in the world has its own peace.

So, peace all starts from our personal peace. What is this personal peace then?

No One can Understand or believe in what is the Meaning of

peace in -peace out axcept those who live the Up side down Experience..

I am Abeer Abyad. I am from Gaza City ..Palestinian Territorries.. Live in a conflict Place. look at my experience and then you will extract the definition of peace.

I was born in 1987 when palestinian Children was fighting against Tanks Holding stones.

I was a teenage when the 2nd intifada started and also I when in Demostrations and experience to see people killed in front of me

My Father was beated and taking to Jeil infront of my eyes ..

Then when I was in the University I survived after 2009 War agaist gaza & working with International NGOs in Relief work.

Now I am working in a far area as a trainer.

ya Living in Gaza means that you are stuck in before few months you need a merical to travel.

ya during my life I don't speak that much or even Cry . Its hard for me to cry in front of any one..

During the last year I suffered from being afraid of being collapsed as a person in any day. after living under work stress and continous Pressure.

what is my life looking like is the Up side down of ( Peace in, Peace Out) means I am living in (War out ,,,, war In)

After spending a year looking arround me for the Peace but I get nothing

after searching ... I found out and 100 % convinced .. peace means Healing , retreating , recovering

If you are calling for peace that means their is a war somewhere if you are calling for peace that means you need to heal yourself from a previous Pain or cut..

You will never see any peace arround. if you are still in pain from inside..

so start from inside peace means No war ..

Dear Anca, You have put a very nice question, and I am agree with webmaster's reply in this regard. Peace mean is related to diffrenet level but generally it means to me the highest quality of people living together. It includes tolerance, acceptance, understanding, dialogue, solidarity, caring, happiness and etc.

Peace for me means The absence of war , thats for the society. Peace within us means, there's serenity , love,honesty and all the values in life that present or building in us , as a person.

I would just say a basement, a step back from pure reaction. It means elevation, true search of humanity... My siblings means peace, children mean it...

As you can tell from my question, my mind is not still because my mind is like this - active and always playing with concepts, with shapes, with symbols, with meanings. When I was little I remember there was something I could call "too much peace out" - my parents left me in the grandparents house for almost two months in which i got bored, lonely and counting minutes. I needed stimulation, I needed something to happen, not rest, not peace, no quiet. That's when I decided to make things happen in my mind, because I saw I could feel less lonely and less bored when I got creative in the fantasy. Obviously, there was some kind of war inside of me, although I don't know exactly what I was fighting against. I remember also having those feelings of emptiness and lack of air when I saw my parents or grandparents sleep. When I am proposed to still my mind, I think it is impossible. I have imense respect and compassion for you Abeer for being through such atrocities and I really don't know what to say. I understand how peace for you is "no war" and I'd like to contribute to that. I will start with peace in, of course, and that means, I guess, figuring out what exactly was in that silence that disturbed me so much. Meditation for me will be long from now still full of activity of my wonderous mind. Stillness will perhaps retrieve the sadness, boredom, loneliness and darkness. I have a new mantra now -- i am imagining light in and out and I am saying this word in my mind: light light light light. It makes me feel less heavy too , and helps me stay in contact with something great. I hope I can use my mind for peace, if my mind can't stand still ;)
