My name is John Swarbrick. I was born in 1982 in Chicago Illinois in the United States of America. I started martial arts in the year 2000. I received my black belt in Hapkido in 2005. I received my purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2018. My career as a police officer began in 2005. I was promoted to detective in 2020. I have received various awards of achievements throughout my career. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Calumet College of St. Joseph in Science with an emphasis on Public Safety Management. In 2019, I received my Master’s degree in Science with an emphasis on Public Safety Administration from Calumet College of St. Joseph. My greatest accomplishment to date is being married to my lovely wife Renata in 2018. My passion is meditation. I did not even know what meditation was growing up in the United States. I was a freshman in college and I was going through a difficult time. My natural reaction was to close my eyes and breathe. I did not even know that I was meditating at that time. My mind felt clearer and my mood changed. I felt a natural draw to something that I knew nothing about. My first martial art Hapkido had a brief breathing meditation before class and I was hooked. In 2014, I began meditating twice a day everyday until the current day. I have not missed a single day.
