Born on June 3, 1996, in Nonguwa Chiefdom, Kenema District, Eastern Sierra Leone, Alie Barrie is a dedicated social worker, humanitarian, and peace advocate. Growing up in a modest household, he was instilled with strong values of respect for culture, traditions, and community. His early experiences shaped his passion for addressing social inequalities and advocating for the well-being of vulnerable populations. Alie pursued his education in Kenema, completing primary and secondary school before gaining admission to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, in 2016. He graduated in 2022 with first-class honors in Social Work, a milestone that reinforced his commitment to social justice and community development. Throughout his career, Alie has been actively involved in various leadership and volunteer roles. He has served as a Child Led Advocate at the Children’s Forum Network, President of Wondigal Fi Bhantal Fulbeh Kenema, and Public Relations Officer at Jokereh Endhan. His dedication to addressing homelessness led him to serve as Lead Researcher on a survey of homeless individuals in Freetown. Additionally, he has worked as a Volunteer Social Worker and Coordinator for Sunday Meal Service at Social Workers Sierra Leone and interned at the Sierra Leone Psychiatric Teaching Hospital. Currently, he holds key positions as Education Secretary for Ghandal Forlly SL, Acting President of the Freetown Peace Club, and Programs Coordinator for Liam Reems Foundation. Alie’s passion for social change has driven him to participate in several training programs, including the UN Women’s Girls Summit in Kenema, Youth Leadership and Advocacy Training on Leadership, Politics, and Governance, and a 42-day Self-Development program. These experiences have strengthened his skills in crisis intervention, case management, peacebuilding, and community outreach. With eight years of experience, Alie has dedicated himself to working with socially disadvantaged individuals, including those facing homelessness, mental health challenges, and social exclusion. His ability to develop sustainable and cost-effective programs has improved lives despite limited resources. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, he continues to foster positive change and promote social equity.
