One year has passed since Peace Agent Gaby’s top secret mission of revealing the method for attaining Inner Peace in Lima, Peru. Peruvians have been unaware of this ancient secret for nearly a thousand years, but now in 2012, the seeds of peace are starting to bloom in Lima.
Together, Peace Agents David Javier Santos and Diana Esmeralda De La Cruz have formed a special task force on a near impossible mission. They had 144 hours and 9 sessions to deliver the secret of attaining inner peace in Lima; a mission that will send tremors to all the inhabitants as the very foundations of Lima are shaken by the power of inner peace.
The Peruvian Tour kicked off with a three day retreat at Cocheralta Guest House. The participants of the retreat had time to meditate with the team of teaching monks: Venerable Pasura Dantamano and Venerable John Paramai from Thailand. Supplementing the meditation practice they also taught about knowing oneself, how to cultivate a healthy mind and what it can do, as well as the right view and practical ways to implement a peaceful lifestyle in a modern environment.
“Well, when we started the monks told us to imagine a round object like the sun or a moon,” said Manuel Macedo about his experience in meditation. “Somewhere in the middle of the meditation they told us the object is shining and completely clear. So I imagined a ball, a completely clear crystal ball. Clever! Inside I feel that I’m the ball. I am that, my mind is that, and I’m completely detached from my body.”
Following the retreat on the 21st, David and Diana positioned themselves at Abejas Curativas, an alternative medicine center. Carmen Ormachea was one of the attendees at this session, she said, “I saw the light in one experience, the light increased more and more continuously. I felt very hot with the sun and I saw the light. When I saw the light, I felt peace, quiet and very calm. I forgot all my problems and now I am new.”
The next mission was at Runa Wasi, an extraordinary place that aims to serve the eternal truth that has always existed, beyond time, through internal training to its members. It integrates ancient knowledge with scientific spiritual development, and applies it to health, education and other fields of human welfare. One of the participants felt the power meditation has to heal the body and mind, saying, “Today was a busy day, with tension. Now I feel like slept for 8 hours. In 40 minutes, I feel like I rested the 8 hours that I needed to feel fresh with lots of energy, physically and mentally. It is wonderful”
At the Universidad Alas Peruanas or UAP, a lecturer commented on his hopes for the students, “I hope that the idea of inner peace and outer peace can be an ongoing idea among young people and in this new generation. Unfortunately, previous generations focused only on themselves. This new concept is a concept that is beyond peace. It has a lot to do with generosity, and caring about other people.”
TAE Peru is a place to study and do courses in expressive arts, but this time Peace Revolution came to teach the art of meditation. Nadia Calmet talked about why she finds meditation useful, “Before you are working all the time, going from work to home. It is like doing all your duties and you forget yourself. You do things as an obligation. And then you stop and say to yourself, ‘stop for a while I am going to live for me’. It is gratifying for your body and it’s like your body says ‘Thanks, a lot’! I believe that if humans come back a little to look at the ancient wisdom of ancient cultures and stop to see, to learn and to imitate it, many of the world’s problems would be solved. But of course, peace begins with your then we are on our way seeking personal peace. I’m going to tell those who want to listen to me. At least as this is a good example.”
Limans are very aware of their impact on their environment, and this is the service Casa Ninfa provides. It is a place where Limans can converge, share and develop self-recognition through arts and culture. They create a space for people to develop a deeper sensitivity and awareness, and it was the perfect setting to present the power of inner peace through meditation.
The next mission was at another university, UTP, La Universidad Tecnológica del Perú, or the Technological University of Peru. Here Peace Revolution held a workshop about meditation as a tool for inner peace and world peace. The students responded very well to the meditation and presentation. Diego said, “I think PR project is great. This idea comes from an ancient wisdom that everyone has inside. But it is presented in a modern and transcendental way.”
Cecilia enjoyed the sensation of her mind becoming still during the meditation, “The other part I liked was when you swallowed the moon because I actually felt that the moon was laughing inside my stomach. It was a peaceful sensation.”
The motto of Ambar del Alma is ‘healing, love, service’. David and Diana organized a workshop here about meditation and its place in the modern world. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and the technique very simple. One of the participants at the workshop said, “It was a beautiful session. I loved it. The steps that were given were very simple, for example, I could feel a deepness, a state of great of peace. I don’t know how to explain it. It was a very beautiful state, so much so, that it was difficult to come back.” When asked how this meditation different from the way the participant practiced before, he replied, “In most meditations, the guide asks you to think about going to some place. That you do this, that you look at that, or that you meet with a person. But this meditation took us inside of ourselves.”
The workshop, ‘How to live in Harmony with yourself and society’, was given at CEDRO. Cesar Llanos, already a peace rebel, attended this session. “I have been meditating with Peace Revolution with the online self-development program. I have been doing it, because my life has changed through meditating. I always meditate every day. It’s beautiful to share this experience with all these people, and it´s great to meditate face to face with Peace Revolution. Meditating and clearing the mind from thoughts create a strong relationship with everything I do. I don’t get angry about nonsense because I have found a greater sense of life and everything. For example, I have stopped drinking alcohol. Meditation helped me to find inner peace in simple things such as nature.”
On the 23rd May, 2012, the mission was completed. But it was not the end of peace for Lima, but just the beginning. David reflects on the mission, “The impact of this event has been very big. We are surprised about the comments from the people who are interested. For that reason, we are going to organize, starting in June, a weekly or monthly meditation session. Everyone is invited, and the sessions will be free. It will become a space for meditating and sharing our experiences, our problems. And a way to help each other, our peace experiences and ideas that come out for new projects.”
