What does success mean to you? How do you become successful in your life and career? These are questions that are gradually becoming a central part of our life, especially in an age where many young people want to pursue their passion and thrive at it. Yes, we can strike a balance and live a life of harmony despite the pressing needs that we must meet in life.

As young Africans determined to contribute to the positive transformation of our continent, we need to make sure that we have the tools and skills required to achieve such a noble goal. It is high time we stopped fearing the future and begin to shape it truly and effectively. Are you ready for the next step? Peace Revolution, a project of World Peace Initiative , is hosting the 4th Amandla Youth Fellowship. The fellowship is specially designed to offer you practical steps to still your mind and discover deep true peace from within.

Objectives

  • Empower young people with the tools to inner peace, emotional intelligence, positive thinking and good habits development, through the practice of mindfulness, self-discipline and meditation.
  • Connect young Africans and enhance their sense of solidarity, compassion and togetherness.
  • Create a networking and exchange forum for future collaboration and partnerships while fostering mutual understanding and intercultural dialogue.

Program

The training starts with 42 Days online Self-development Program on our interactive platform providing you the basic theory and practice; to cultivate your inner peace. The 42 days are divided as follow:

  • 21 days before interview
  • 21 days after interview and before final selection of participants

The fellowship offers 4 day intensive training program providing participants with deeper insights regarding the relationship between mindfulness meditation and various skills necessary for improving personal well-being, enhancing effectiveness in professional and social life, and nurturing healthy and fruitful relationships. Participants will learn the benefits of meditation in relation to:

  • Self-empowerment
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Work-life balance
  • Stress management
  • Non-violent communication
  • Effective teamwork

The training covers

  • Full or partial airfare sponsorship
  • Free accommodation
  • Free catering
  • Free local transportation

The training DOES NOT cover

  • Visa costs
  • Personal expenses

Eligibility

Be African nationals residing in the following countries: Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Djibouti, Comoros, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Malawi, Mozambique, Sudan, South Sudan, Botswana, Seychelles, Lesotho, Madagascar, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mayotte, Reunion and Mauritius.

  • If selected participants will pay a commitment fee of $100 ($50 for candidates living in Rwanda).
  • Everyone is welcome to join the fellowship. But to be eligible for the airfare support, candidates must be between 22-32 years old at the time of submitting application.

1. What is the self-development program?

The free online self-development program is a 42-day challenge teaching the skills and techniques involved in the development of inner peace. It provides guided meditation mindfulness. You can start the first episode here.

2. What am I supposed to write in the project proposal question in the application?

In this space we would like to know about your plans to give back to your community following the fellowship. Meditation is a wonderful tool that can help you address many of today’s local and global challenges . So, we expect you to come up with a project idea that can utilize your learning from the fellowship about meditation, emotional intelligence and mindfulness practice to solve an issue in your community, e.g using meditation to foster non-violent communication in your university/neighborhood and therefore prevent radicalisation etc… Be BOLD and CREATIVE.. In addition, this is also a space for you to engage with Peace Revolution Project on the long term and establish possible partnerships and collaboration.

3. I am over 32, can I still apply for the fellowship?

If you are over 32 years old, you may still apply but will not receive the airfare sponsorship should you be selected.

4. I do not live in above mentioned countries, but still part of Africa, can I still apply?

Only candidates living in the countries mentioned above can apply for the fellowship. If you live outside of those countries and interested in the Peace Revolution fellowships you may consider looking out our international fellowships which take place in Thailand and other regional fellowships and camps in various part of the world. 5. How do you select the participants?

After completing your 21 days of the online self-development program. World Peace Initiative Foundation selection committee will make an interview appointment based on your performance, and group combination in the fellowship. There is no need to write a request for an interview. If you are qualified, we will contact you.
